Our Mission

Our Story

Born out of our desire to follow the way of Jesus in feeding the hungry in our neighborhood, a small group of members of Pequannock Reformed Church in Wayne, began making Thanksgiving baskets for area families in need, sometime late in the decade of 2010. The baskets included all the non perishable fixins for a traditional dinner. We also included staples such as pasta and sauce and assorted canned goods.

Through our church donations we were able to provide a $25 gift card to Shoprite for the turkey and other perishables. As this service grew year to year we added on a Spring dinner. In 2020 due to the pandemic, we began providing 2 bags of groceries to our area families in need each month.  In the fall of 2021 we became a 501c3 organization.

Our Mission

The mission of Pompton Food Recovery is to aid in the remediation of food insecurity in our community by soliciting, collecting, and packaging food products for distribution. We partner with area businesses and the greater community to ensure food reaches families in need.

Our Vision

Our vision is to provide access to food, nutrition, education, and related resources, while creating hands-on opportunities for neighbors to help neighbors.
